To finish up the school year we are going to work on one Final Project. You will create a Prezi. What is a Prezi you might ask?  Well, it is a new form of presentation that uses Zooming to enhance and illustrate the points that the speaker is talking about. Click on the Prezi Logo to the left to go to their site.

You project will be due on June 13th. It must be at least 2 minutes long. That means that you will have to have approximately 24-25 "jumps"/slides on Autoplay.

The topic of your Prezi is your choice, as long as it is tasteful and appropriate for a school setting.

You will be graded on:

Your spelling.
Your capitalization.
The quality of your images.
Your creativity in using Prezi's zoom feature.
Your readability of your text.
The overall theme consistency of your work.  (Keep to your subject!)
The overall look and feel of your completed work.

Any questions,

Today is a typing day. You should be finished with the 4th lesson in the Advanced set; Accuracy Drills.

This week we are continuing work on creating a Brochure for an imaginative event/happening here at ISG. Remember you need to be doing this in Google Docs!  Do not do this in MS Word or any other word processing software. The purpose of this assignment is to become more proficient and comfortable with using Google Docs for all your work.

This assignment is due next week Wednesday, May 16th.

To Turn it in....all you need to do is to share it with me.

Good Luck,

Mr. Z

Your website should consist of the following pages.Top Level Pages
  • Home
  • About Me
  • IT Project
Pages that should be nested under "IT Project". The next level down.
  • Background
  • Importance
  • Timeline
Your Top 3 pages should be named just as they are shown above. Your 3 pages under IT should be named just as they are shown; Background, Importance and Timeline. You should NOT be able to navigate to Background, Importance or Timeline from your Home or About Me pages. You should only be able to navigate to them via your IT page.  You should be able to navigate to your IT, Background, Importance and Timeline pages from any of these 4 pages.

Guidelines for your Pages:

Home: Should be a "landing page". This is a page that welcomes a web visitor to your site.

About Me: Should be about you. You can write up about 5-6 sentences and include pictures of either yourself or things you are interested in.

IT: Should be Titled: Firstname Lastname Project (insert your subjects name here) Remember, the TITLE is different then the page NAME. The page TITLE only appears at the top of the page and is not in the address or URL of the page.  A perfect example of this is www.brentzeise.net.  The NAME is brentzeise.net, but the TITLE is "Welcome to Mr. Z's Tech Corner." You should include a large, high quality picture of your subject. You should include TEXT LINKS to the Background, Importance and Timeline pages.

Background Page: This should include early pictures (if available) and the story of your subject BEFORE he started to make it big on the World Wide Web/Internet/Computer Industry. For some subjects that might be very young.

Importance: This page is a continuation of the Background Page. Here you tell their story from the point when they started in the computer/www/internet.

Timeline: Here you should create a literal timeline of that persons life. Major accomplishments, should be noted.

*All 4 pages above should link to each other. IT - Background - Importance - Timeline*

The Look of your pages:
The rules that we went over regarding Presentations for the most part apply here. Don't worry about the length of writing part. It's ok to write a lot on your webpage. You should remember things like:
  • Sharp Clear Pictures
  • Nice contrasting colors to enhance readability
  • Don't make your Font too small
  • Pleasant Balanced Layout
  • Not too many sounds, noises etc. You'll notice that Cha Young has an audio file playing when you go to her site about Rohm. Music is ok, as long as it is not overwhelming, and it is appropriate to your subject.
That should be enough for you now. I expect all of you to be working on your websites. I will be checking on the weekend to see if progress has been made and that you were not just wasting time in class!

Welcome back to class 7th Grade.  The last 2 weeks have been very interesting because we missed both of our Wednesday Classes!  We missed Wednesday the 1st of February due to a SNOW DAY here in Genoa. Then, last week, Wednesday the 8th of February we missed due to ISA TESTING.

So, we need to take stock of where we are for both Typing and for our Website Creation. We will spend some time in class today talking about where we are going.

For WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 15th, you need to send me the email that was due 2 weeks ago. Look below under the February 1st entry for directions on how to do the assignment.

Today you will have a substitute monitoring you in class. You should know what to do and how to behave.
Today you should be working on your keyboarding. You should have all 4 of these lessons complete by now:
  • Alphabet Soup (A-M)
  • Alphabet Soup (N-Z)
  • Learn to Bust a Capital Letter
  • Learn to Bust a Capital Word
I will be back on Wednesday, February 8th and I very well might check your keyboarding homework to ensure that they are complete.
